Potatoes Au Gratin Recipe

Ingredients

  • 2 ½ pounds Yukon Gold Potatoes
  • 1 white onion, peeled and thinly sliced
  • 1 tablespoon unsalted butter
  • 1/3 cup Extra virgin olive oil
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • Diamond Crystal Kosher salt & fresh ground pepper

Preparation

  1. Preheat oven to 400 degrees.
  2. Peel potatoes and put in bowl of cold water
  3. Sauté sliced onions until clear in color and set aside
  4. Combine cream and milk and heat in medium saucepan over medium heat until warm
  5. Rub inside of 9 by 12 baking dish with butter
  6. Line the bottom of baking dish with the sautéed onions and layer the sliced potatoes on top.
  7. Pour in the cream and milk mixture to cover the potatoes.
  8. Season with salt and pepper.
  9. Cook until potatoes are fork tender and top is bubbling and brown, about 1 hour 15 minutes
